What is Wakame seaweed?

Wakame seaweed, also known as Undaria pinnatifida, is a popular edible seaweed from the Chigaisoidae family. Commonly found in southern Hokkaido, Japan, it’s widely consumed across Asia and is regarded by the Japanese as a “longevity food” for its excellent health benefits.

Wakame seaweed is rich in vitamins A, C, K, iodine, and iron, yet low in calories — only about 36 per cup. It’s also high in fiber, antioxidants, and chlorophyll, making it a highly nutritious and healthy food.
